The Scottish Farmer
Scottish farmers, crofters, growers and farm workers are calling on the Scottish Government to introduce a £1000-a-month basic income pilot, arguing that the current agricultural support system is leaving many struggling to make a living.
The proposal is contained in a new report produced by the Basic Income for Farmers Scotland Working Group, the Scottish branch of the Landworkers’ Alliance and the Regenerative Farming Network.
The report, due to be published on October 8, is based on in-depth consultation workshops with farmers, crofters and farm workers from across Scotland.
