Jane Shrestha is calling for the basic-income pilot program be reinstated.
Shrestha, a public heath nutritionist with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, addressed Midland council on Aug. 27 about the food struggles that are prevalent in the community.
She spoke on the food insecurity issues facing the region and laid out the same facts that were presented to councils in Penetanguishene, Tay and Tiny earlier in the summer.
