Americans may see ‘unconditional’ monthly checks up to $1,000 for 3 years in new ‘transition’ program

LAWMAKERS are looking into creating a new transition program for young Americans that would distribute monthly cash payments of $1,000 for three years.
The unconditional cash would come as part of a Universal Basic Income proposal in one US state, with similar legislation up for debate in more than half of the country.
Called the Universal Basic Income for Transition-Age Youth Program, the initiative would offer a financial helping hand to young Americans aging out of foster care or similar state-supervised living situations.
