Three of Charlottetown’s five candidates agree on basic income guarantee

Three of the five candidates vying for the votes of Charlottetown residents agree that Ottawa should fund a basic income guarantee pilot in P.E.I.

On April 15, candidates Joe Byrne (NDP), Daniel Cousins (Green), Sean Casey (Liberal) and Robert Lucas (People’s Party) took part in the forum, organized by the P.E.I. Coalition for Women’s Leadership, Meals on Wheels P.E.I. and the Community Sector Network of P.E.I. Conservative Party candidate Natalie Jameson did not attend.

The debate was moderated by former CBC producer Sally Pitt who is now a journalism instructor at Holland College. About 80 people attended the forum
