Charlottetown’s representative in Ottawa has joined with a citizen’s coalition to press federal Liberal leadership candidates to support a made-in-P.E.I. anti-poverty program.
Member of Parliament Sean Casey and former Malpeque MP Wayne Easter joined with members of the P.E.I. Working Group for a Livable Income at a media event on Feb. 20 to call for candidates for Liberal leadership to support a basic income guarantee (BIG) in the province.
The group says the prospect of U.S. tariffs means the idea of a basic income guarantee is more relevant now than ever before.
