Sept. 14 to 20, 2026, marks and celebrates the 19th International Basic Income Week. The motto for this year is Basic Income: Secure Lives, Fearless Voices, True Democracy.
Basic income, also known as a guaranteed livable basic income, is a cash transfer intended to provide sufficient income to afford adequate food, housing, clothing, transportation and other necessities. It provides an income floor, regardless of work status, supporting equality, choice and dignity.
