COMMENTARY: New premier in P.E.I. – New hope for the P.E.I. basic income guarantee project

In an opinion piece published in the P.E.I. Guardian (Does premier still support basic income, Feb. 27), Marie Burge wrote “The P.E.I. Working Group for a Livable Income urges the new premier to fulfill his BIG aspirations of 2015” and asked the new P.E.I. Premier Rob Lantz to meet with the group to discuss what needs to be done.

Coalition Canada basic income – revenu de base joins with the P.E.I. Working Group for a Livable Income in anticipation that Premier Rob Lantz will move forward on a P.E.I. guaranteed basic income (GBI) demonstration project.

Since its formation in 2019, Coalition Canada has made advocacy for a GBI in P.E.I. a key initiative. Through its advocacy, Coalition Canada has built strong pan-Canadian support for the establishment of a federal-provincial collaborative effort to implement an island-wide GBI program.
