Basic income is not a unicorn, it’s a workhorse

Re: Is basic income the way to a better quality of life in Canada? (Feb. 6)

Many of the 4,000 former Ontario basic income pilot recipients have answered yes. Some of them were skeptics going in, some of them are its strongest advocates now. We agree with them.

Across the basic income movement, you’d be hard pressed to find many with rose-coloured glasses who don’t understand where power and money is concentrated.

We are a diverse collection of mostly volunteers doing this work with scant financial resources.

We are part of labour, environmental, fair vote and tax fairness movements.
