Korean Prime Minister Kim Proposes Linking AI Wealth to Basic Income

Prime Minister Kim Min-seok said on June 24, “I am considering the idea of combining the massive wealth (wealth) that will arise in relation to the AI, artificial intelligence, great transformation with basic income.”

During his visit to China, the prime minister attended a special session at the Summer World Economic Forum, WEF, annual meeting (Summer Davos Forum) held at the Dalian International Convention Center on the afternoon of the same day. In a dialogue with WEF President Alois Zwinggi, he responded to a question about concerns over job losses and deepening polarization due to AI, saying, “Korea’s world-class semiconductor companies are generating enormous profits amid the growth of the Korean stock market, and a new issue that Korean society has never experienced has emerged: how to distribute these profits.”
